Gary MAAS (Narre Warren South) (17:35): (1788) The adjournment matter that I wish to raise is for the Minister for Education and concerns the upgrade currently underway at Lyndhurst Secondary College in my electorate of Narre Warren South. The action that I seek is for the minister to provide an update on the progress of these works. Lyndhurst Secondary College is really a terrific local school, and I was pleased to advocate alongside their principal Eloise Haynes for a $13.6 million upgrade and modernisation, as announced in the 2024–25 state budget. Following that announcement I was delighted to have the Premier visit the school in his former capacity as the Minister for Education. We spoke to the students about the upgrade, and they were pretty excited, particularly the year 7s, who will still be there to see those works finished. This upgrade will support the college well into the future, with a new double gym, food tech spaces, canteen, music spaces, an auditorium and more classrooms on the way. Throughout my time as the member for Narre Warren South I have been just so proud to work alongside our local hardworking principals to deliver school upgrades and give the students the very best possible chance in life and the very best possible environments to learn and grow whilst supporting teachers and school staff to do the important work that they do every day. Our Carroll Labor government knows the importance of every child having access to an excellent local public school education regardless of their postcode or their background so they have every opportunity to reach their full potential.
