 Colin BROOKS (Bundoora – Treasurer, Minister for Industrial Relations) (09:45): I rise today to recognise the remarkable contribution of the Greensborough Football Club, one of the oldest and proudest sporting clubs in our community. Established back in 1893, the club is celebrating its 133rd ‍season this year. A founding member of the old Diamond Valley Football League, now the Northern Football Netball League, Greensborough has a proud history both on and off the field. With around 500 members, 17 division 1 premierships and a club motto of ‘actis non verbis’, ‘actions not words’, the club has always let its actions speak for themselves. Under the leadership of first-year president Steve Ellis, whose involvement stretches from junior player to senior footballer, coach, football operations and now president, the club continues to thrive. It is a club built on values and a strong culture. That sense of a community is reflected in the junior club, established back in 1964, which has a record 430 registrations this season, ensuring a very bright future for the club.

I also want to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of the Brindley family. Rex Brindley served as president from 1988 to 1991 and is a life member. Neil Brindley is a hall of fame inductee, life member and former junior champion who has also given countless hours in leadership and coaching roles. Today that legacy continues through Tom Brindley, a current senior player, vice-captain and former Richmond VFL best-and-fairest winner. To everyone at the Greensborough Football Club, thank you for the incredible contribution you continue to make to our community and congratulations on 133 years.
