Will FOWLES (Ringwood) (14:35): (1763) My constituency question today is to the Minister for Public Transport. What plans does the government have to increase the frequency of train services through Ringwood station? Road congestion is an increasing concern across the Ringwood electorate, particularly along Maroondah Highway, Canterbury Road and other major arterial roads. Ringwood station is a major transport interchange and sits at the junction of the Belgrave and Lilydale lines. It is well placed to give people across Melbourne’s east a genuine alternative to travelling by car. With significant population growth and new housing planned around Ringwood and along the rail corridor, demand on both our roads and public transport network will continue to increase. More frequent services through Ringwood, particularly outside the traditional morning and afternoon peaks, could make train travel a more practical option for more people, including Sam Connellan, and help reduce pressure on our local roads.
