Ros SPENCE (Kalkallo – Minister for Corrections, Minister for Victim Support, Minister for Youth Justice, Minister for Community Sport) (09:56): I would like to acknowledge and congratulate the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support Award winners from Wayi School for weeks 1 to 4 of term 3. Wayi School is an outstanding specialist school in my electorate, and their schoolwide positive behaviour support framework helps create a positive, safe and supportive learning environment by encouraging students to demonstrate the values of voice, choice and independence. This term’s deserving award recipients are Mila from room 2, Haniya from room 3, Wareesha from room 6, Veronica from room 10, Elmo from room 13, Noelle from room 15, Suleiman from room 17, Aurora from room 18, Fallann from room 19, George from room 19, Yahya from room 22 and Gurnaz from room 23. Through the schoolwide positive behaviour support program, students are recognised for positive behaviours that contribute to a respectful, welcoming and successful school community. The program reinforces positive choices, strengthens relationships and supports students to develop the social and emotional skills they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom. The achievements of these students reflect not only their individual efforts but also the support provided by the dedicated principal Leanne Sinnadurai as well as the terrific teachers, education support staff and families who encourage them each day to be the very best versions of themselves. I warmly congratulate these students. They should be extremely proud of their efforts and of the positive example they set to their fellow students.
