Kathleen MATTHEWS-WARD (Broadmeadows) (17:22): (1842) My adjournment is for the Minister for Public Transport, and the action I seek is for the hardstand area at Gowrie station to be line-marked. Despite the increased services on the 536 bus route, which I have been very proud to deliver, and the new bus timetables that better connect with the train schedule, parking is at a premium at Gowrie station. The lack of line marking on the large hardstand area leads to confusion and lost parking space, with drivers parking haphazardly and not leaving enough space for others to utilise. Line marking would make drop-offs and pick-ups easier and lead to the available parking space being efficiently utilised. This small improvement would also enable even more people to take advantage of our half-price public transport for the rest of the year, the 77 new services on the Upfield line that have just started and the fabulous X’trapolis trains proudly made in Victoria, whose carriages provide more capacity and improved comfort and accessibility for passengers. I thank local resident Daniella De Pretis for raising this issue with my office, and request that this matter be addressed as soon as possible.
