 Tim McCURDY (Ovens Valley) (10:09): Yarrawonga College P–12 have been waiting 12 years for the Victorian Labor government to finish their school. As the fastest growing town in regional Victoria, Yarrawonga deserves its fair share, and it is no surprise that the Labor government for Melbourne has partly funded an upgrade. It is so disappointing that while Melbourne is showered with brand new schools we in the regions are supposed to be grateful for small mercies. A Liberal–Nationals government will make sure that Yarrawonga P–12 gets its fair share.

CFAs across the Ovens Valley are falling into disrepair under the Carroll government. When fire strikes, our volunteers are first on the scene to protect our community. Labor’s big fat tax in a cost-of-living crisis has seen no investment in Myrtleford CFA or Yarrawonga CFA. A Liberal–Nationals government will show respect towards our CFAs and invest in their safety and future, because we understand the importance of our CFAs.

A lack of investment in sporting facilities by this tired Labor government is hurting the Ovens Valley communities. Cobram, Yarrawonga and Wangaratta have been let down by this Melbourne-centric government, and only a Liberal–Nationals government will invest in Ovens Valley communities. Whether you or your children play footy, netball, cricket or pickleball, the Nationals will deliver our fair share.

The Nationals will fix our roads, investing $5 billion to repair and rebuild our state road network plus $288 million for local country roads and bridges. Only the Nationals will ease the cost of living and implement our fair share guarantee.
