Luba GRIGOROVITCH (Kororoit – Minister for Youth, Minister for Carers and Volunteers) (10:26): As we know, Victoria is the Education State, and that is no truer than in my electorate of Kororoit. We have made significant investments in my patch, ensuring that kids in growing suburbs get access to a great public school education. We built Yarrabing Secondary College in Aintree and we are currently completing stage 2 of the project. Once completed, this will have a sports field, another learning neighbourhood and an administration building. Right next door we opened Dharra specialist school, with purpose-built accessible facilities for students with disabilities. This school is going from strength to strength, providing a positive, caring and safe environment for all local students. But there is more: we opened Mindalk Primary School in Mount Atkinson and we are opening Barramayil Primary School and kindergarten in term 1 of next year. Thanks to this government’s work, kids can now walk to school and more families have access to co-located kindergartens, making pick-up and drop-off easier. Our Carroll Labor government is not just building schools but upgrading them as well. Copperfield College is a great example of that in Kings Park – they are getting an upgrade, and it is coming along nicely. I am also proud that recently our hardworking teachers got a pay rise, making them the highest paid in the country. A huge thankyou to our hardworking teachers aides, teachers, school councils and parents that make every school community in Kororoit what it is.
