Ben CARROLL (Niddrie – Premier) (14:05): Our government is very focused on making sure that we protect the services that Victorians rely on. While those opposite call things cuts, we know that they are not savings at all. We know we are about services. Their cuts: 31,700 jobs lost. Victorians want to know: does that mean the Ballarat Base Hospital will not have the services that Victorians are relying on? Does that mean places at Kangan TAFE will be slashed as well? Does that mean the Whittlesea Primary School’s great breakfast program will not be continued in 2027? These are services that families cannot afford to lose. Cutting them does not make them disappear; it leads to more issues for families and more cost of living that they will have to find themselves. Those opposite like to talk about being the party of family values, but they love nothing more than passing laws that hurt working families and make it easier for mums and dads to get the sack. On our side we will always make sure that people are put first, because we believe everyone deserves the care and dignity of a home. Everyone deserves to have a nurse on call. Everyone needs to have a great local school. We will keep protecting and investing in those services because making life better for working families is what our Labor government is here to do.
