Daniela DE MARTINO (Monbulk) (14:34): (1825) My question is for the Minister for Seniors. What events will take place across my electorate of Monbulk and beyond in celebration of the Victorian Seniors Festival this October? Monbulk district is home to many seniors, and we have some outstanding organisations that encourage our seniors to get active and connect with others. From Cockatoo’s over-50s club to Probus clubs in Olinda, Emerald and Ferntree Gully; Life Activities Knox; University of the Third Age groups from Emerald, Sherbrooke, Mount Dandenong; and many more fabulous organisations – including some great bowls clubs that I know you would appreciate as a division 1 pennant player, Speaker – there are too many to mention. This year’s overarching theme for seniors month is ‘Connect, create, celebrate’, encouraging older Victorians to explore new interests, socialise and participate in free or heavily discounted local events. These are all incredibly important, because we know isolation is one of the most dangerous things anyone can experience, and I look forward to the minister’s response.
