Adjournment

Language schools

Pauline RICHARDS

Language schools

Pauline RICHARDS (Cranbourne) (17:31): (1814) I am going to add my thanks as well, and I will try to do it later perhaps without reducing myself to tears. My adjournment matter this evening is to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, and the action I seek is an update on how the Carroll Labor government is supporting language schools. I recently attended the Zimbabwean Saturday school in Cranbourne East and was welcomed by extraordinary leaders, parents and teachers. But the stars of the show were the students, who taught me important and useful phrases in Shona and Ndebele. I would like to acknowledge particularly the teachers: firstly Ravai Makwara, Katra Mawoyo, Shelter Chimombe and Nomsa Mzamo. I would like to thank and acknowledge our sparkling and clever students: Tafadzwa Mombeshora, Romana Mwandiambira, Tawana Mwandiambira, Taylor Bare, Levi Bare, Mason Bare, Mudiwa Mapfunde, Munaye Mapfunde, Dylan Josaya, Tiana Josaya, Shona Vomo, Zuva Vomo, Ruvarashe Chimombe, Robyn Chimombe, Challotte Mapwanya, Zara Mapwanya, Joshua Mawoyo, Ezekiel Mawoyo, Hayley Makore, Linah Aseka Esatiah, Vuyo Aseka Esatiah, Mpho Muregi and Msizi Muregi. I look forward to the minister’s response and to sharing it with the community.
