Constituency questions
Eildon electorate
Cindy McLEISH (Eildon) (14:29): (1788) My question is for the Minister for Environment. Residents and members of the mountain biking community have contacted me regarding the condition of the Cascades mountain bike trail between Lake Mountain and Marysville. Concerns have been raised about erosion, fallen trees, overgrown vegetation, debris, exposed rock, reduced visibility and the adequacy of maintenance arrangements, with reports that these issues may be creating safety risks for trail users. The trail is an important tourism and recreation asset for Marysville, Lake Mountain and the region more generally. It supports local businesses and attracts visitors from across Victoria. What action is the government taking to ensure the Cascades mountain bike trail is maintained to an appropriate standard, and are sufficient resources being allocated to trail inspection, maintenance and hazard removal to address community concerns about rider safety?
