Lily D’AMBROSIO (Mill Park) (10:06): On Sunday I joined the Friends of Hillcroft Park for their annual community planting day alongside Elizabeth Nealy, Labor’s candidate for Mill Park. Since forming in February 2025, the group, led by president Kyoko Imazu, has met on the fourth Sunday of most months to restore indigenous habitat in South Morang. Forty-seven volunteers planted 440 indigenous grasses, wildflowers and shrubs. We also heard from Katrina Forstner of Buzz and Dig, who deepened our understanding of native pollinators and ran a bee hotel workshop. I was especially pleased to announce $30,000 from the Carroll Labor government for a community garden at Hillcroft Park and a further $30,000 for a second community garden at The Lakes Boulevard, South Morang. Both have been long advocated for by local communities, and I know we have some keen local gardeners who are eager to see them completed.
