RDA Victoria

Colin BROOKS (Bundoora – Treasurer, Minister for Industrial Relations) (09:50): I rise today to recognise the wonderful work of the Bundoora Park Riding for the Disabled centre and particularly its president Jenny Field. It was lovely to recently meet with Jenny and hear about the incredible work she and the team are doing to support riders, families, carers and volunteers in the community. Jenny has been involved with RDA Victoria for 25 years, since her son first started riding, and has been a part of the Bundoora Park RDA since its beginning almost 20 years ago. She has volunteered at the centre for more than 16 years and is now president. While president is her official role, Jenny does so much more: supporting riders and volunteers, connecting with families in the community and simply being there to make sure the centre continues to thrive.

The centre is supported by more than 25 dedicated volunteers, who help with everything from horse care to administration, horse welfare and occupational health and safety. Their coach Brittany has also been with the centre for seven years, beginning her journey as a volunteer. What really stood out to me when speaking with Jenny was the sense of community at Bundoora Park RDA. Volunteers find it incredibly rewarding, riders build friendships and confidence and families get to see their loved ones enjoying an activity that provides both physical and cognitive benefits. It is clear that Jenny and the entire team have created a welcoming and supportive place for so many people. It was a pleasure to meet with Jenny and hear about the passion and dedication that makes Bundoora Park Riding for the Disabled such a special part of our local community.
