John PESUTTO (Hawthorn) (10:01): The iconic Camberwell Sunday market is a much-loved and longstanding institution in my electorate. Every weekend it draws thousands of people from the local community, across Melbourne and beyond to Camberwell Junction, and this Sunday marks the 50th anniversary of the market’s operation by the Rotary Club of Balwyn, with the support of other local rotary clubs. For five decades this market has housed hundreds of stalls for vendors to sell handmade items, vintage clothing, preloved goods, collectables and bric-a-brac. It has been a destination for social connection and friendship, and incredibly since 1976 it has raised more than $26 million for community and humanitarian causes. Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Balwyn and everyone involved who has made this such a fantastic local icon.
