Kathleen MATTHEWS-WARD (Broadmeadows) (14:30): (1789) My question is for the Minister for Public Transport, and I ask: when will a big power clean of the Broadmeadows station precinct occur? The Broadmeadows station precinct has multiple owners and falls within the responsibility of private owners, Metro Trains and several departments. Despite my ongoing efforts and strong advocacy, this complexity has proved challenging to overcome. However, in this year’s budget I secured funding for improvements and have been working closely with the department and council to implement these as soon as possible, starting with a big power clean of the entire precinct. We are looking at expanded CCTV, improved greenery, murals, more lighting and opportunities to activate the space as well. There are 115 new train services, and the community connectors commenced last week, and it was great to meet them and the PSOs, who are now there from 9 am until the last train. I have also secured funding for the bus interchange, which will be resurfaced this financial year. I believe the owners of the private building are also making some improvements, and I hope these can occur in the next few weeks.
