Constituency questions

Preston electorate

Nathan LAMBERT

Preston electorate

Nathan LAMBERT (Preston) (14:34): (1793) My constituency question is for the Minister for Public Transport, and my question is: what is the process for reviewing Victoria’s strategic cycling corridors, particularly those in our local Darebin area. I ask this because of course we are strongly committed to improving our cycling infrastructure. In recent years our Victorian Labor government has upgraded a number of major cycling routes across Preston and Reservoir. We look forward to continuing to do so in partnership with Darebin council. But as we do that, I think we do also need to look at reviewing some of our strategic cycling corridors, notably the issue with the routeing through the notorious Boldrewood Parade–Broadway roundabout, perhaps some of the routeing through the Eric Street area, which is very steep, and then the strange omission of the Merri Creek Trail and the Darebin Creek Trail from our strategic cycling corridors even though they are used frequently by local cyclists and as a state government we have invested heavily into making them high-quality cycling routes. Any information that the minister can provide about a potential review process would be greatly appreciated.
