 Sarah CONNOLLY (Laverton) (13:19): Only Labor will back our multicultural communities in Melbourne’s west and ensure they have the facilities they need. Quang Minh Temple is getting $4 million under a re-elected Carroll Labor government. That is the largest Buddhist temple in Australia, and it attracts thousands of people every year from different community groups. This investment will fund their redevelopment plans and build a brand new, state-of-the-art, fit-for-purpose community hall. Whether you are Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, Burmese, Taiwanese or Tibetan, or even a member of our Buddhist community, you will benefit from these new facilities.

There are thousands of folks across my electorate in Melbourne’s west who attend this temple, and they are absolutely excited for this to happen. Most importantly this builds upon the continued support that our government has invested for folks in our Vietnamese community right here in Melbourne’s west. We are just a month away from opening Australia’s first-ever Vietnamese museum, because only Labor will defend and back in our diverse multicultural and multifaith communities across Victoria. We will not indulge in nonsense about monocultures or police what is and is not Australian. No matter who you are, where you are, where your family comes from or how you choose to pray, you belong here in Victoria.
