 David SOUTHWICK (Caulfield) (14:28): (1800) My question is to the Minister for Housing, Building and Precincts. What steps is the minister taking to address the concerns of the McMillan Street locals that a public housing tenant has become so aggressive and antisocial? Residents of McMillan Street, Elsternwick, are putting up with antisocial behaviour from an unruly Department of Families, Fairness and Housing tenant. The owners corporation wrote to Cheltenham housing on 17 ‍July to no avail. Serious safety incidents reported include aggressive and erratic behaviour, people allegedly forcing entry via balconies, suspected break-ins and rubbish containing large kitchen knives and used syringes found near the bin area. Impact on children and families – residents report children being frightened and woken by violent yelling and banging. Residents have tried to make reports and have been ignored by the department. They have been ignored by certainly Cheltenham housing. Something must be done to protect these residents.
