 Martha HAYLETT (Ripon) (19:01): (1820) My adjournment matter is for the attention of the Minister for Planning. The action I seek is that the minister does not approve a data centre in Miners Rest if requested by developer Resi Ventures. Miners Rest locals learned about the proposed data centre at the same time as the rest of the market, through an ASX announcement back in June. There has been no planning approval, no permits issued and no meaningful consultation with the community. That is simply not good enough. A project of this scale and significance cannot be imposed on a community without proper scrutiny, transparency and engagement. Miners Rest families deserve to be consulted before decisions are made that could fundamentally change their local area. They deserve clear information about the impacts on infrastructure, traffic, water, energy use, amenity and the future character of their community. The developer, Resi Ventures, cannot expect to announce a major development to investors and then leave local residents in the dark. Resi Ventures needs to come forward and explain what is being proposed and what the impacts of this project would be for Miners Rest. Our community deserves answers, transparency and respect – nothing less.
