 Rachel WESTAWAY (Prahran) (14:32): (1722) My constituency question is for the Minister for Police. Minister, when will the government act to restore safety and confidence in the seat of Prahran? Residents across my seat tell me they no longer feel safe. They no longer feel safe in their streets, in their homes or at their businesses, and they describe cars being broken into regularly, homes being targeted, shops being robbed, aggressive behaviour on the street and around public transport hubs and repeat offenders returning with little apparent consequence. Traders are spending more money on security, as are families, and young people are changing their routines. People are telling me they do not even feel safe walking down Chapel Street during the day, let alone at night-time, and older residents are afraid to go out. These are the daily experiences of people in my electorate who feel abandoned by a government that has lost control of community safety. We have a clear plan to make Victoria safer.
