 Ella GEORGE (Lara) (14:29): (1719) My question is for the Minister for Government Services in the other place. How many residents in the Lara electorate have applied for the Victorian government’s rego rebate? Over the past couple of months my electorate office staff and I have been very busy speaking to residents to ensure that they are aware of the program and assisting community members with their applications. I think we have helped hundreds of locals apply for their rego rebate, saving them 20 per cent off their car rego. Most residents in the Lara community have been able to claim a rebate of approximately $174 for each car they have registered, which means for families with two cars that is a massive saving of over $340. On this side of the house we are committed to helping ease the cost-of-living pressure for Victorians. I look forward to hearing from the minister about how many locals have applied for the rego rebate.
