 Will FOWLES (Ringwood) (14:16): My question is to the Premier. I extend my congratulations and the congratulations of my constituents on your election to the leadership of Victorian Labor and as Premier of Victoria. I am delighted that you have announced a royal commission into corruption within Victoria’s Big Build. What scope will the royal commission have to investigate allegations of corrupt conduct?

 Ben CARROLL (Niddrie – Premier, Minister for Education, Minister for WorkSafe and the TAC, Minister for Medical Research) (14:16): I acknowledge the question from the member for Ringwood. As I have said, my first action is establishing the royal commission into the construction sector. Integrity is not optional; it is fundamental. It will have exhaustive terms of reference. I met with the head of the Department of Premier and Cabinet yesterday and commissioned him to get to work on it straightaway, and I will have more to say on this in the coming days and weeks.

 Will FOWLES (Ringwood) (14:17): When does the Premier expect terms of reference to be settled?

What I can say is that they will be exhaustive terms of reference. This needs a light shone on it. I want to make sure that the government I lead does ensure every dollar spent and every person working in every workplace gets the fairness and the treatment it deserves.
