That I introduce a bill for an act to provide for orders, to be made by the Magistrates’ Court or the Children’s Court, that impose restrictions on persons who engage in unacceptable conduct that is connected to certain workplaces and to make consequential amendments to the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and the Magistrates’ Court Act 1989 and for other purposes.

 Sonya KILKENNY (Carrum – Attorney-General, Minister for Planning, Minister for Violence Reduction, Minister for Finance) (10:12): I am pleased to. This bill will protect retail and transport workers by allowing their employers or unions to seek an order with any condition necessary to protect the worker, including banning them from the worker’s workplace. Breaching the order is a criminal offence with a penalty of up to two years imprisonment or a $50,000 fine.
