Nicole WERNER (Warrandyte) (10:29): People sometimes ask why I raise my voice in this chamber so much. The truth is I get fired up because outside Parliament people are hurting. Victorians are struggling under the weight of cost of living, a crime crisis, the worst corruption in our state’s history and knowing that this Labor government continues to squander and waste their hard-earned taxpayers money. I will not apologise for fighting for them. I will not apologise for fighting for every battler, working family, quiet Australian and Victorian who feels like they no longer have a voice in Labor’s Victoria. I did not come in to be a wallflower. I came in to be a voice for the voiceless and to make a difference. If I have to raise my voice over Labor, who always try to shout me down or shut me up in the chamber, I will. If I have to stand up against the bullies and the disrespect of those in this chamber, I will. I will not be silenced. I am not here for the people in this room; I am here for the people outside of it. I would rather stand up and fight than shrink back and fail the people I am here to represent. I am their voice and it is my job to fight for them in Parliament. I refuse to let them down. The Allan Labor government has let you down. The new Premier is sure to let you down, and that is why it is time for a fresh start and a Wilson coalition government.
