Joe McCRACKEN (Western Victoria) (12:54): (2450) My question is to the Minister for Planning. The member for Ripon has created a petition against a proposed data centre in Miners Rest. The petition calls for the planning minister to decline an application made by a proponent. This is despite the Labor government actively promoting data centres, including in the AI mission statement and on the Invest Victoria website. It seems truly odd that a government backbencher needs to get a petition organised to change a government minister’s approach. It looks desperate and it reeks of being utterly disingenuous. I visited the site just the other day with the Liberal candidate for Ripon Megan Read. We think the community should be listened to and their voices should be respected. My question to the minister is this: will you listen to the Miners Rest community and take their views into account, or will you just listen to the member for Ripon?
