Southern Metropolitan Region
John BERGER (Southern Metropolitan) (12:48): (2444) My constituency question is directed towards the Minister for Small and Family Business. Smaller family businesses make up the backbone of the Victorian economy and the economy in my electorate of Southern Metropolitan Region. They are the foundation of well-connected communities that keep local economies and social connections strong. Particularly in my constituency, small businesses make up a large proportion of the economic activity that takes place. A good percentage of my constituents, especially those among the younger demographic, are employed by small businesses. For that reason I hold a keen interest in making sure that small and family-run businesses are well supported by this Labor government. I note it has been an ongoing commitment of the Labor government since coming into office in 2014 to continue to support small and family business owners. My question to the minister is: what initiatives has the Labor government introduced in recent years to ensure that small and family businesses continue to thrive in my constituency of the Southern Metropolitan Region?
