Constituency questions
Northern Metropolitan Region
Sheena WATT (Northern Metropolitan) (12:45): (2441) Victoria is growing, and we know that to tackle the housing challenge we need to build more homes where people actually want to live, close to transport, jobs and services, and our government is taking decisive action to make this happen. I was thrilled to see the recent announcement regarding the Arden precinct in North Melbourne, in my electorate. Through the development facilitation program, a major new residential project has been approved for construction on Arden Street, right next door to the incredible new Arden station. This development will deliver two buildings, ranging from 24 to 37 storeys, featuring a variety of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes. Importantly, it includes a 15 per cent affordable housing allocation, with communal open spaces, retail and unparalleled access to the Metro Tunnel. This project is a shining example of excellent urban renewal, and the program itself has already fast-tracked more than 12,000 homes right across Victoria. My question is: how can more people take advantage?
The PRESIDENT: Ms Watt, can I check which minister your matter was directed to?
Sheena Watt: The Minister for Development Victoria and Precincts.
