Kirralie Smith
Moira DEEMING (Western Metropolitan) (09:58): I would like to talk today about what has happened to Kirralie Smith. She was found guilty of vilifying a man by repeatedly posting an image of him in a dress receiving an award for the women’s soccer team in Wingham, New South Wales. The image was posted on the football team’s public Facebook page. She used the image. She never named him, met him or asked anyone to target, harass or intimidate him. She had never been to a game or directed any advocacy towards him as an individual. She only ever repeatedly posted the already posted image and asked, ‘Why is a bloke in a frock receiving an award in a women’s football team?’ Every post was directed at the policy failure. She is under a two-year apprehension of personal violence order, guilty of vilification and has been ordered to pay $55,000 and pin a post to her social media; along with that is another $40,000 fine for doing the same thing to another man who was playing in the women’s teams. She always directed her comments towards policy and not the individuals. It is a disgrace that women are being forced to make statements that they do not believe and make confessions of guilt that they do not believe because of delusional men who ignore women’s boundaries.
