Georgie CROZIER (Southern Metropolitan) (12:46): (2442) My constituency question is for the Minister for Local Government. The Moorabbin traffic school has been a much-loved feature of the community for more than half a century. Many local residents have happy memories of riding their bikes and scooters there while learning about road safety and following traffic rules. The facility closed in 2022 and has been missed, but plans for reopening were revived by local MP Nick Staikos earlier this year, when he secured $250,000 in funding for Glen Eira council and announced on social media:
We are reopening the old Moorabbin Traffic School!
He has got a raft of social media here, and he is spruiking this and that and carrying on. On 17 July Mr Staikos provided an update with the mayor, who said, ‘The site itself will become a park’ with ‘traffic … elements’. Minister, can you tell my constituents why the promised return of the popular traffic school has become just a park with a few speed humps?
