Martha HAYLETT (Ripon) (19:10): (1802) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. The action I seek is that the minister provide an update on when our state-managed roads across Ripon will be repaired. Ripon covers more than 10,000 square kilometres, and right across our electorate, many key roads have deteriorated to an unacceptable standard. The condition of our roads is consistently the number one issue raised with me by locals. Major routes, including the Sunraysia Highway, Pyrenees Highway, Western Highway, Calder Highway and Ballarat-Maryborough Road, all require significant attention, along with many other roads that connect our communities. For country Victorians, roads are essential infrastructure. People rely on them every day to get to work, take children to school, attend medical appointments, transport freight and stay connected to loved ones. That is why we need to see a stronger focus on road maintenance and renewal across Ripon. While temporary patching may provide a short-term fix, many roads now require more substantial and lasting repairs to bring them up to a safe and reliable standard. Our communities deserve confidence that the roads they depend on are being properly maintained, and I ask the minister to provide an update on when these much-needed works will be delivered.
