 Sonya KILKENNY (Carrum – Attorney-General, Minister for Planning, Minister for Prevention of Family Violence) (14:34): The Financial Times has reported that Melbourne is building more homes than any other world city – more than London, more than Paris, more than New York City and, yes, more than Sydney. They are not quite a world city like us, but they do their best. But there is more good news. Victorians are leading the nation when it comes to first home ownership, with one in three first home buyers in Australia living right here in Victoria. We should be so proud of Victoria. Victoria is a great place to live, work and invest, and we are building the homes that Victorians need. But you would not hear this positive news if others had their way, because others seeking government like to talk Victoria down. Others, like the One Nation–Liberal noalition, promote their shameful –

Sonya KILKENNY: More than 55,000 new homes in the last 12 months is the number under Labor, and we have not finished yet. Only the Carroll Labor government has a positive, fresh and proven plan to build more homes, support more first home buyers and make sure Victoria remains the best place in the world to live, work and invest.
