 Kat THEOPHANOUS (Northcote) (09:54): We are also still buzzing from the music and dancing at Sunday’s spectacular Northcote festival at the Holy Monastery of Axion Estin, where I was proud to announce that a re-elected Labor government will provide $200,000 over four years to support this multicultural celebration. It was beautiful. Greek and Cypriot traditions came together with Syrian, Romanian and Albanian music and dance – people sharing joy through faith, culture and community. My thanks to His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora and Father Phillip for their leadership and warm hospitality and to all the volunteers, performers and community members who made the festival so special. Labor stands with our multicultural and multifaith communities not with words but with action.
