 Mary-Anne THOMAS (Macedon) (09:50): Riddells Creek local, mum of two and two-time Macedon Ranges mayor Annette Death will be Labor’s fantastic candidate for the state seat of Macedon at the election later this year. Annette understands our community so well, and she will be an incredible advocate for the people of Macedon. It has been wonderful to have her join me for some terrific events in her home town that demonstrate Labor’s ongoing commitment to investing in our regional communities, from celebrating investments at Treetops Scout camp that are delivering more shelter as well as archery and frisbee-golf facilities – investments that underscore our government’s commitment to helping families raise healthy, active kids; a big shout-out to Riddells Creek local and Scouting leader Andrew Smyth – to meeting the team behind the Riddells Creek town centre activation plan that has been supported by a Tiny Towns grant. This funding will support bud lighting in the main street and waterway beautification. Big thanks to Riddells Creek locals Graham Stewart, Narelle McGellin and Melanie Kinsey. Your passion for your community shines as bright as the bud lights will.

Finally, Annette joined me for the sod turn for the brand new CFA station which will serve our CFA volunteers and the community of Riddells Creek well into the future, with three drive-through vehicle bays, more storage, better operational areas and a multipurpose space as well as modern amenities for the women and men who volunteer at Riddells Creek. Congratulations to Captain Gill Metz AFSM and all the dedicated volunteers at Riddells Creek. It was great to see Rod Sinclair there; Rod was there when we turned the sod back in the 1980s. I can assure the people of Riddell that Annette Death will ensure their community continues to be supported by a Carroll Labor government.
