Constituency questions
Kew electorate
Jess WILSON (Kew – Leader of the Opposition) (14:28): (1728) My question is to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. When will the government install a pedestrian crossing on Barkers Road in Kew between Auburn Road and Glenferrie Road? I have raised this issue with the minister a number of times since June 2023 in this place and through correspondence. In November last year, in an adjournment speech, I again asked the minister to prioritise this much-needed pedestrian crossing. I said: the people of Kew need these upgrades now. They cannot wait until after someone gets hurt. But I regret to inform the minister that last week a student was struck by a car on Barkers Road exactly where this pedestrian crossing is needed. We are so fortunate that the student is recovering well, but once again I ask the minister: when will the government finally install a pedestrian crossing on Barkers Road to keep our students safe?
