 Jess WILSON (Kew – Leader of the Opposition) (14:05): My question is to the Premier. The Premier told this house in relation to the Suburban Rail Loop that:

… we cannot wait to get on with this project.

Premier, what has changed?

 Ben CARROLL (Niddrie – Premier, Minister for Education, Minister for WorkSafe and the TAC, Minister for Medical Research) (14:06): We are always getting on with transport projects under our government. We do not rip up railway lines in country Victoria. We invest in every part of Melbourne, whether it is in the south-east or the north-west. That is what our government will always do.

Members interjecting.

James Newbury: On a point of order, Speaker, on relevance, this question was specifically around the Suburban Rail Loop. It was a very, very short and sharp question.

 Jess WILSON (Kew – Leader of the Opposition) (14:06): In September 2023 the Premier called the Suburban Rail Loop a game changer. Was the game to bankrupt Victoria, or did the Premier simply never understand what he was signing taxpayers up to?

It was quite a word salad. What I will say is that the opposition leader raised budget. Every investment our government raises, every investment our government invests in, will deliver value for Victorians, and we will treat every dollar financially responsibly.
