Belinda WILSON (Narre Warren North) (10:08): I was delighted to attend the VASSI, Victoria Australia Samoa Seniors Inc, seventh birthday celebration, which was all about community, culture and of course connection. The evening was filled with colour, laughter, excitement and a very vibrant fashion show as well as incredible music performances and full of cheers and smiles. It was really wonderful to see all the members, their families and their supporters all come together to celebrate seven years, which is such an incredible achievement. I must say VASSI hold a very strong place in my heart, and they certainly know how to party. Every time I walk through the door I am greeted with warmth, kindness and huge, generous smiles and a place of belonging. Whether it is taking part in their gentle exercise classes or enjoying a day of dancing, it is really clear that VASSI is much more than an organisation; it is a second family. Through attending their events I have seen firsthand the deep respect of the Samoan community of course for their elders. I want to say a huge shout-out to Susi, whose dedication, care and generosity has helped make it such an incredible event. She is always making sure everyone is happy, well fed and cared for. Congratulations, VASSI, on reaching this amazing, wonderful milestone.
