Vicki WARD (Eltham – Minister for Emergency Services, Minister for Natural Disaster Recovery, Minister for Equality) (10:02): Congratulations to Eltham junior footy club on their fantastic Girls in Footy gala day, recognising the growing strength of girls football in our community. It was fantastic fun, bringing together players, families and supporters for a wonderful community celebration. We had football, live music, face painting, glitter tattoos and a mini market creating a vibrant atmosphere both on and off the field. One of the teams playing, the Diamond Valley Lightning under-18s girls team, known as the Bolts, brings together players from Eltham, Research, Monty and Diamond Creek. It is a fantastic example of clubs working together to ensure young women continue to have opportunities to play the sport they love. Congratulations to team captain Gracie Alexander, Pip Hanson, coach Lee Warne, team manager Naomi Robertson and girls operations manager Lauren Pilakis for their leadership and commitment.
