Road maintenance
John MULLAHY (Glen Waverley) (19:03): (1710) My matter is directed to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, and the action I seek is that the minister provides an update on what benefits and improvements residents of my electorate of Glen Waverley can expect to see from the Victorian government’s $1.04 billion roads blitz, announced in the 2026–27 state budget for road maintenance, resurfacing and safety upgrades. Residents regularly speak to me about the importance of maintaining high-quality roads and ensuring our transport networks remain safe and reliable.
Glen Waverley is home to some of Melbourne’s busiest arterial roads, including Springvale Road, Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully Road, Jells Road, Waverley Road, High Street Road, Boronia Road, Canterbury Road, Blackburn Road and Highbury Road. These roads play a vital role in connecting local residents to work, education services and recreation, making their ongoing maintenance essential. I welcome this significant investment in Victoria’s road network and the improvements it will deliver to road users across the state. I look forward to hearing how the residents of the Glen Waverley district will benefit from the record investment in local roads.
