Doncaster South open space
Matthew GUY (Bulleen) (10:25): The residents of Doncaster South, particularly around Church Road, Meadowbank Avenue, Windella Quadrant, Larkspur Avenue, Grange Park Avenue, Whittens Lane, Hampshire Road and Norfolk Circuit, are becoming increasingly tired, angry and frustrated with the Labor government’s lack of information as to why they are stealing more open space for the Eastern Freeway works along the Koonung Creek trail and the Tram Road Reserve. In fact the Tram Road reserve will be eliminated. There is very little public information as to why the government, at the last minute, has deemed that this land needs to be acquired and taken from the council and from the public and used as paved space.
It is open space; it should remain open space. It has been open space for decades. The people of Doncaster South deserve a lot better than the mistruths they are being told by the Labor government, who are not giving proper information as to why this land is being acquired. In my electorate, particularly in Doncaster South, this is emblematic of a government that is out of touch and in its last days. The residents of Doncaster South are sick to death of this government taking advantage, running roughshod and giving no reasons and no excuses as to why open space is going and being replaced with nothing.
