Narre Warren Football Netball Club
Belinda WILSON (Narre Warren North) (10:33): It is AFL season and it is fair to say that we have had a great start to the season in my community. The Narre Magpies are absolutely kicking goals, and as the number one ticket holder – it does take me a lot to get into the black and white, as a Doggie’s supporter – I am very, very proud. It is the women’s team that are actually shining this season. On Friday night I got the chance to go along to see them play against Chelsea Heights, where our girls absolutely dominated. I will admit there was a lot of argy-bargy, but we did come home with a win and we are proudly sitting on top of the ladder in our first season. It was also a really big night of celebration: Courtney kicked four goals, with an absolute clanger from the boundary line, and it was also her dad Greg’s birthday – wishing him a very happy birthday. I also want to wish Maree, who has been running the canteen for over 12 years and has been involved in the club for over 30 years, an absolutely happy birthday – a very special 60th. Sorry, Maree, I did say the number. Thank you, Maree, for everything that you do at the Narre Magpies. You are the sort of person that keeps our community together. I also want to give a huge shout out to Pete and Sonya for the amazing job that they do on the committee.
