King’s Birthday honours

Mary-Anne THOMAS (Macedon) (10:51): I rise today to congratulate three remarkable local Macedon community members who were recognised in the King’s Birthday honours for their extraordinary service in our community and to Victoria. In Lancefield Pam Ahern OAM has been recognised for her contribution to animal welfare through the founding of Edgar’s Mission. I have had the opportunity to visit Edgar’s Mission on a number of occasions, and Pam does a remarkable job out there. For more than two decades she has devoted herself to creating a sanctuary for rescued animals while inspiring compassion and kindness in countless people across our region and beyond. In Gisborne Tricia Kaye OAM has been recognised for more than 50 years of dedicated community service, including as a founding member of the Gisborne ambulance auxiliary, and it was my great pleasure in August of last year to be able to join Pam and members of Gisborne ambulance to celebrate her remarkable contribution and dedication to our fabulous ambulance service. I also congratulate Assistant Commissioner Jane Welsh APM, recognised for her exceptional leadership and contribution to Victoria Police. Jane has played a pivotal role in modern policing, including establishing Victoria Police’s first cybercrime division and strengthening efforts to combat online child exploitation. I am very proud to represent a community such as Macedon and the outstanding volunteers within it.
