Fair Work (Commonwealth Powers) Amendment Bill 2026
Introduction and first reading
That I introduce a bill for an act to amend the Fair Work (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2009 and the Victoria Police Act 2013 and for other purposes.
Motion agreed to.
James NEWBURY (Brighton) (10:11): I seek a brief explanation of the bill.
Sonya KILKENNY (Carrum – Attorney-General, Minister for Planning, Minister for Violence Reduction, Minister for Finance) (10:11): The bill amends the Fair Work referral act to expand the category of matters that can be the subject of enterprise bargaining agreements and determinations in relation to law enforcement officers and applies these protections in the same way as for other public sector employees. The bill also extends the jurisdiction of recently enacted Commonwealth Fair Work provisions to the Victorian public sector.
