Juliana ADDISON (Wendouree) (14:38): (1693) My question is for the Minister for Renters. How is the Allan Labor government’s portable bond scheme making life easier, fairer and more affordable for Ballarat renters across my electorate of Wendouree? I know that moving homes is a stressful time for many renters, particularly those waiting for their bond to be refunded. That is why I am so pleased that our government is introducing Australia’s first portable rental bond scheme on 1 July 2026. This is great news for renters, who will be able to transfer their existing bond between properties and avoid the financial stress of paying two bonds at once. We are on the side of renters. We have delivered more than 150 reforms, including banning rental bidding and no-fault evictions and introducing minimum rental standards and strengthened protections around bond claims. Those opposite – the Liberals, One Nation and the Nationals – are not. I look forward to the minister’s response.
