 Tim READ (Brunswick) (14:39): (1694) My constituency question is for the Minister for Housing and Building. In August 2023 in Parliament I alerted the then minister to my constituent Asena’s dire public housing situation. She is a single parent with a disabled son. Back then she had just been displaced from her public home at short notice for mould remediation and left to cover the cost of emergency housing and storage herself. In response the then minister assured Asena that the department would reimburse her. In early 2024 she provided receipts to the housing office, with no response. She followed up in August 2024 – still nothing. In April this year I wrote to the minister again asking for action – no response. Asena cannot sleep, because of mounting bills she cannot afford to pay. Will the minister ensure Asena is reimbursed in full as a matter of urgency?
