Adjournment

Bellarine electorate bus services

Alison MARCHANT

Bellarine electorate bus services

Alison MARCHANT (Bellarine) (18:49): (1860) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Public Transport, and the action I seek is for the minister to provide an update on the outcomes of the Bellarine bus review, which is going to benefit local residents and visitors across the Bellarine. As the Bellarine continues to grow, I have had so many people talk to me about the upgrades and the need for better public transport across our region. Earlier this year we did conduct the review, and the Bellarine was absolutely magnificent in answering questions and providing submissions to the department. It gave local residents the opportunity to share their ideas about where the gaps are and what they would like to see in a better public transport system on the Bellarine. In that time, though, we committed in the last budget to do a cross-Bellarine bus service. That will go from Drysdale to Ocean Grove. That is a much-needed service, particularly for our young people who are either coming back and to and from school or after-school activities, work and socialising with their friends. I am really looking forward to sharing more about that soon. That is just the first step, and I would like to be able to share with residents the feedback we received under the review, and I look forward to hearing from the minister.
