Sonya KILKENNY (Carrum – Attorney-General, Minister for Planning, Minister for Prevention of Family Violence) (10:00): Every now and then we get to work alongside truly extraordinary people ‍– ‍people who inspire us, challenge us, make us laugh and make us better. I have had that privilege. To my ministerial teams Joe Battanta, Rion Casey, Jack Carns, Metika Claxton, Tyler Finn, Mark Gazic, Ella Glanville, Katie Gompertz, Lauren Johnson, Casey Lodge, Liam Miles, Brigid McCarthy, Nicole Nabbout, Nadia Oosthuizen, Eliza Phillips, Tom Rosser, Brighid Sammon, Mick Timlin, Ruby Wallace, Alex Woods, Anthony Xu and Max Resic, thank you. You have brought intelligence, integrity, compassion and an enormous sense of purpose to everything we have done together. Following the biggest community engagement in our state’s history, we delivered the biggest reforms to Victoria’s planning system in a generation because we could no longer sit back and watch Victorians locked out of finding a home. We made it easier and faster to build the homes Victorians need, we made Victoria the townhouse capital of Australia and we established tree targets to make our suburbs greener, cooler and better places to live. In justice we put the voices of victim-survivors at the very centre of reform, strengthening our laws on family and sexual violence and making sure our justice system better reflects the seriousness of the harm done to victims, because victim-survivors deserve to be heard, deserve to be believed and deserve justice. Life is ultimately about people, and I could not have asked for better people beside me. I will remember the laughter, the friendships, the kindness and the moments we backed each other and believed in each other. I will always be incredibly proud of what we achieved together and even more grateful I got to do it with you.
