Williamstown electorate
Melissa HORNE (Williamstown – Minister for Ports and Freight, Minister for Jobs, Minister for Industry and Advanced Manufacturing, Minister for Defence Industry) (09:51): In this final sitting week of the term, I rise to reflect on just how much the Labor government has achieved in my electorate of Williamstown. Over this term we have transformed every single corner of the electorate, from revitalising Brooklyn with the opening of community gardens for the Patch in the Park, truck bans in Spotswood and Yarraville, to the upgrade of the zone in Newport and the sealing of Paisley Park in Altona North. The change has been felt in every single street and every single suburb. None of this happens without the people, though, that hold our community together, and we have invested in every single one of our schools for current and future generations. To our community clubs who keep the younger ones busy and who invest in female participation, create friendships and build lasting skills, thank you for your advocacy, your volunteers and for every single thing that you do. It has been such a pleasure to support our clubs through capital upgrades and sporting grants. Our beautiful maritime electorate has also seen numerous waterfront upgrades: Workshops Pier, Gem Pier, the award-winning Altona Pier and upgrades to the foreshore, Altona boat ramp and car park, Williamstown beach jetty and of course Williamstown lifesaving club. I cannot wait to see how the club is transformed in the year ahead. To our multicultural and multifaith groups, your contribution is greatly valued. And finally, to all the community groups I work closely with, thank you for your advocacy and your support for the many vulnerable people throughout our community.
