Ashwood electorate school productions
Matt FREGON (Ashwood) (13:04): We have been out and about for the last month in Ashwood, and school productions are the flavour of the month. What an incredible couple of weeks it has been. We kicked off with Huntingtower School’s senior production of The Adams Family, which was nothing short of spooky, kooky and absolutely entertaining. I then grabbed my golden ticket and went over to the sweet success of Avila College and Mazenod College’s wonderful rendition of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which had us all wanting more. Mount Waverley North Primary School – the young people down there wowed us with a number of performances. For a start the preppies showed us that everything was just right in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In SnowWhite they taught us you should not eat an apple from a wicked queen, but I tell you the teachers need apples for all the work they have put into these shows, and the Wizard of Oz had us walking down the golden path.
In a particularly proud dad moment for me, Salesian College and Sacred Heart did a little production of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, and, with the indulgence of the house, my daughter was pretty good as Reno Sweeney, by the way. But the whole cast were fantastic and did an awesome job.
On Monday, just yesterday, Parkhill Primary School took us all on a colourful music journey through the eras, including Taylor Swift, with a performance of Step Back in Time, and I have got to say it is a bit shocking when the kids go through all the decades and you have been alive for all but one.
