Lara Primary School
Ella GEORGE (Lara) (13:26): We have the most incredible schools in the Lara electorate, and Lara Primary School is no exception. I recently had a wonderful visit to Lara Primary. School captains Kayden Sidnam and Skylah Helps did a phenomenal job of taking me on a tour of their school and chatting to me about all the great things they are learning about at Lara. I even had a cuddle with their school pet Scar, the bearded dragon. I was particularly impressed by the work they are doing on the student representative council. Kayden and Skylah explained to me how the SRC has been fundraising to improve some of the amenities around their school. They have almost finished a project to build new school bike racks and a shelter to cover the area. A lot of work has gone into this project, including a survey of students to understand how many students ride their bikes to school to know what capacity was needed before works began. The next project they are focusing on will be a quiet space in the playground for students who find the noise a bit overwhelming. The leadership and thoughtfulness of Kayden, Skylah and their classmates will leave a great legacy for future students at Lara Primary. Once again, thank you to Kayden and Skylah and principal Toni Scott for having me at your wonderful school.
