Roma BRITNELL (South-West Coast) (13:08): Belfast Aquatics Port Fairy swimming pool is a vital resource for the health and wellbeing of our community, offering a warm, accessible and inclusive environment that provides for all ages and abilities. The pool, located in Port Fairy, was initially funded by the local community. It has many unique services that are not able to be found in surrounding areas and centres, like the AquaZone in Warrnambool. Those services include disability access, which provides relief for those with chronic pain or mobility issues, and the warm, balmy 31-degree water is ideal for those needing rehabilitation following injury, illness or surgery. The pool is run by a committee of volunteers, who do a fantastic job and have continued to do so for over 17 years. While the pool currently receives funding from the Moyne shire, it is largely reliant on grants and support from its members. Despite the centre’s best efforts, the pool will face some financial challenges over the next several months, so we must continue to support our dedicated volunteers through this time and thank them for their efforts in keeping the facility operational.
